What are we?
We are a traditional gentlemans club, independant of political and religious connection with a modern outlook and without the stuffiness and formality that is often associated with such establishments.
Everyone is on first-name terms.
The club is run for the members by the members and every member has a right to vote and to be put forward for office at the Annual General Meeting.
A Council, consisting of at least nine members, is
headed by a Chairman with other officers being Vice-Chairman, Secretary
and Treasurer. Members come from all walks of life and all age groups.
A little history
We were formed originally in 1897 by a group of local businessmen and dignitaries and became a limited company in 1930 moving to our present location (formerly the Kilgrimol Private School) the following year. Our Memorandum of Association states that we were established to maintain and conduct a club for the accommodation of members and their friends and to afford them all the privileges, advantages and conveniences of a gentleman's club.
